Old Port Walking Trail - Old Man's Beard, a super medicinal lichen

There is an abundance of Lichen called Old Man’s Beard growing on branches on the Old Port Walking Trail. It’s technical name is Usnea and it is a super medicinal lichen. According to information sourced from the web, Usnea is used for weight loss, pain, fever and wound healing and can be made into teas and supplements and medicinal creams plus it has many more uses. Over the years, I’ve walked past it along the trail and have become fascinated with it. Here is a photo of the Usnea Lichen that I took yesterday on my walk along the Old Port Walking Trail.
